Fundraising for Cancer Cures

 In 2023, I had the honor of running as a St. Jude Hero to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Participating in such an impactful event gave me a powerful sense of purpose. Every mile I ran was not just for myself, but in support of the incredible work St. Jude does to fight childhood cancer. Knowing that each stride was helping to fund critical research and treatments made the challenge of the race even more meaningful.

Did you know these remarkable facts about St. Jude?

• Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food — because St. Jude believes that the only thing a family should worry about is helping their child fight and live.
• Treatments invented at St. Jude have been instrumental in increasing the overall childhood cancer survival rate from just 20% when the hospital opened over 50 years ago, to more than 80% today. St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
• St. Jude freely shares all its discoveries with the world. This generosity means that every child saved at St. Jude contributes to a global effort to help doctors and scientists save thousands of children around the world.

 I am proud to be a two-time finisher of the Chicago Marathon, with my first race taking place in 2006. My motivation to run that year was rooted in a cause close to my heart — I participated in the marathon to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). 

What drives my continued support for cancer-fighting organizations is their unwavering commitment to research and the dissemination of groundbreaking findings across the globe. The work these organizations do is truly transformative. By funding clinical trials, supporting cutting-edge studies, and promoting collaboration among researchers worldwide, they are not only advancing the fight against blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma but are also making strides in cancer research more broadly. This global collaboration helps to ensure that discoveries are shared and that more lives are saved as a result.
